Hi, it’s Zoe! Sometimes kids call me a therapist, counsellor, kid’s therapist, play therapist…. or just Zoe!
I know the word therapy might sound a little strange, so I want to tell you a bit about myself and what therapy is so you don’t have to worry (a lot) before we meet. You know I also get nervous when meeting new people.
A Little Bit About Me…
I was born in Greece! Maybe you’ve heard of it – it’s where the story of Zeus comes from. I love to go for hikes and spend time with my husband and our puppy, Pepper. Pepper’s very energetic, curious, and likes to do things her own way! Maybe she reminds you of yourself or someone
you know?
I also really like being creative with art and doing puzzles!
What do I love most about being a therapist? Getting to know you, learning from you, cheering you on when things go well, and supporting you when things are tough.
So, What is Therapy?
When you come to see me, I listen and try to understand how you see things. Sometimes you can choose to play, draw, talk, or even just be quiet. Therapy is a special place where you can just be yourself.
Kids come to see me for lots of different reasons. Maybe their family is going through a change like parents deciding to live in different houses. Maybe they have really BIG feelings that are hard to handle. Maybe they want to make more friends. Maybe they’re having a hard time at school or at home. Or
maybe something really upsetting has happened.
Whatever the reason, you are not in trouble for coming to see me. Together, we will figure out what you need to feel better.
I’m also here to help your parents understand how they can help you too! Sometimes your parents might have a special time to talk with me so they can learn the best ways to support you.
When you come to see me, our special time is just for you, and we’ll be together for about 50 minutes. If you want, your parents can join us sometimes – it’s up to you. It’s your choice to come and spend time with me, and we’ll use that time in a way that we both agree on. You can tell anyone you want about what we do together.
Your parents and I will understand if you change your mind about coming, but please let us know if you do.
If you have any questions before we meet, please let your parents know and they will let me know and I will do my best to answer your questions either before our meeting or during our fist meeting.
Let’s Get Started!
Let’s be creative and playful! I am looking forward to welcoming you soon.
With warmth,
Zoe 🌈
